McDonald Sr. His first wife was Ruth Daisy Cone. After the death of Ruth, Henry Sr. wed Mabel Turner. She was a teenage girl and took over the responsibility of raising four children as the depression began in 1929. Mabel was born in Lowndes County, Georgia and she and her husband lived there for a few years before moving to Florida. Henry and Mabel McDonald owned restaurant and grocery businesses in the Winter Haven area, and later Henry worked as a pest control man. Mabel Turner McDonald died in 1969 and is interred in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, next to her husband, Henry W. McDonald Sr. Additional Comments: The submitter came to know his grandmother better during the last two years of her life. She worked in a self-service (vending machine) cafeteria at Winter Haven Hospital, and helped me procure a parttime job there, when I was beginning college.
