Time Magazine December 22, 1941
"Five Confederate veterans huddled around a radio in the Soldiers' Home, 
Atlanta, GA., listening to the news. White-haired Major General Henry Taylor
Dowling, who had fought with the First Florida Infantry, sat stiffly erect
and announced: 'The Georgia Division of the United Confederate Veterans is at
war with Japan.' Four nonagenarian heads nodded in fierce agreement."
