 Joyce Herrin Coody, 63, of Valdosta died August 21, 2010, at South Georgia 
Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
 Born in Valdosta on August 30, 1946 to the late Edwin Aldean and Gladys 
Juanell Goodin Herrin, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended 
Lowndes High School and then worked as a hostess at the Bavarian Inn for 
several years. She went on to assemble batteries at SAFT, and this was 
followed by working at Valdosta State University in food service, from which 
she was retired. She loved going with friends and family to enjoy casino 
entertainment and gaming activities. She was very loving and devoted to her 
family, with who she loved to travel when she could.
 Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Coody; daughter and son-in-law, Becky 
and Tedd Schuebert of Lake Park; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Evelyn 
Chivers of Valdosta; grandchildren, Teddy Schuebert and Scott Schuebert, 
both of Lake Park; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Betty Herrin of 
Donalsonville and Eddie and Linda Herrin of Valdosta; brother-in-law, David 
Williams of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death 
by a granddaughter, Brooke Ashlee Chivers, sister, Frances (PeeWee) 
Williams, and great-grandmother, Lillie Mae Goodin.
 Funeral services were held August 24 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carson 
McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Phil West officiating.
 Interment was in Riverview Memorial Cemetery.
 Carson McLane Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
