Valdosta, Ga., July 5- Joseph J. Dasher, one of the most widely known business men of Valdosta, died Wednesday at a local hospital from a series of complications from which he had been suffering for a long time. Mr. Dasher was 58 years of age at the time of his death, and was a native of Lowndes county, where his entire life has been spent. Mr. Dasher was born in the eastern part of Lowndes county and educated in the county schools. When quite a young man he came to Valdosta and was associated with the late C. R. Ashley and later with his brother-in-law, Corley Stapler, established a buggy, wagon and farm implement business here. The business was expanded and became one of the largest in south Georgia and a few years ago Mr. Dasher bought out the interest of his partner, Mr. Stapler, who removed to Waycross. Besides his widow, Mr. Dasher is survived by his mother, Mrs. Edwin S. Dasher, and three children, Joseph E. Dasher, Charles Dasher and Miss Elizabeth Dasher, all of this city, and three brothers, including John H. Dasher, E. S. Dasher, of Lowndes county, and L. H. Dasher, of Miami, Fla. There are also three sisters, Mrs. John M. Knight, of Valdosta; Mrs. S. F. Prevatt, of Frostproof, Fla., and Mrs. C. L. Penny, of Miami, Fla. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the family residence on North Patterson street, in charge of Rev. Loy Warwick, paster of the First Methodist church. The interment was made at Sunset Hill cemetery.
