He was born on July 8, 1933 in Valdosta to the late Ira Forthe, Sr. and Julia Estell McCall Forthe. Mr. Forthe was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had served in the National Guard Armory. He was retired from the Lowndes County Board of Education as Maintenance Director and lifetime member of FSU Alumni Association. Mr. Forthe was a life member of the Elks Lodge and the South Georgia Corvette Club. Survivors include his wife, Lynda Forthe of Lake Park, two daughters and sons in law, Judy and Daryl Cumbass of Pearson, Susan and Chris Rigg of Valdosta, two sons and a daughter in law, Ashley and Kimberly Forthe of Cumming, GA and Scott Forthe of Valdosta, granddaughter, Hannah Forthe of Cumming, GA, brother, Julian Forthe of Lake Park, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Evans McMullen officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Cemetery. Carson McLane Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
