It began with the entry of "military advisors" under President Dwight Eisenhower and ended during the administration of President Nixon, fifteen years later! Although America and North Vietnam signed a peace accord in 1973, two years later North Vietnamese troops invaded South Vietnam. The entire country is now a Communist enclave. 58,000 American troops died there for no apparent reason. John McDonald's name is inscribed on the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
