DIED TOGETHER AS THEY LIVED
Comrades in Soldiers' Home Died in Same Hour.
     Within fifteen minutes, two confederate veterans, W.J. Nelson and James E. 
Edwards, both inmates of the Soldiers'home, died yesterday afternoon, the 
former at 4 o'clock and the latter at 4:15 o'clock. Tuesday morning they will 
be interred together.
     Fought side by side, died side by side, to be interred side by side; so 
with these two old wearers of the gray. Through the civil war, in battle after 
battle, suffering together and singing together, until the white flag of peace 
was hoisted at Appomattox court house, these two remained steadfast and staunch 
comrades.
      W. J. Nelson was 53 years of age. He was born in Twiggs county. After the 
war he settled in Lowndes county, following the occupation of mechanic. Four 
months and eighteen days ago he came to the Soldiers' home.
    Yesterday afternoon a call came into the undertaking establishment of 
Barclay & Brandon from the Soldiers' home; a soldier had just died. The call 
was hastily responded to, and while the body was being put in the ambulance the 
undertakers were informed that another defendant of The Lost Cause had passed 
to the great beyond.
   Funeral services will be held over both at the same time from the chapel of 
Barclay & Brandon tomorrow morning, and the interment will be in Westview. A 
special escort from the Soldiers' home will accompany the bodies to their last 
resting places.
