Cover photo from The Atlanta Journal, 1945. Photo of "Gen." William Henry 
Taylor Dowling posing with unknown lady Marine. Henry Dowling was one of the 
last living veterans of the Civil War, one of the final national commanders of 
the United Confederate Veterans and the last resident of the Georgia 
Confederate Soldiers Home in Atlanta. He was a native of Lowndes County, 
Georgia, but lived in the Manchester area at the time of his death. He is 
buried in Manchester Cemetery and his grave is marked with a Southern Cross.
