BLACKSTOCK LAID TO REST AT CONYERS Funeral services for J.E. Blackstock, 85 years of age, Confederate veteran, wno died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Millie E. Garner, in Stone Mountain, were held Thursday at Conyers, Ga. Mr. Blackstock was born in Lumpkin county. He was widely known throughout the state and for a number of years resided in Oxford. He was a member of the Congregational church; a retired member of the Odd Fellows and was attached to Arilin 64, Camp 17, during his activities. His military career embraces the four years of the sixties, enlisting as a private, but later attaining the rank of lieutenant. He received a wound at the battle of Manassas and was present when Atlanta surrendered. He is survived by his wife, three osns, Perlis E., Richard and James E. Blackstock; and three daughters, Mrs. Millie Garner, Mrs. Alice Fallis and Miss Mattie Blackstock. Additional Comments: James Erwin Blackstock was the son of Richard Blackstock and Hannah C. Underwood. His siblings were: Emily "Millie" Blackstock, John Henry Blackstock, Martha Blackstock, Hannah Blackstock and Alberta Jane Blackstock. J.E.'s wife at the time of his death was Martha Peeler Blackstock. They had married in 1876 and their children were Perlis Equilar Blackstock, Mattie Elizabeth Peeler Blackstock and Millie Emmeline Blackstock Garner. He had been married to Julia F. Singleton and their children were: Helena Blackstock, Lula Blackstock, Alice Blackstock Fallis, James Thomas Blackstock, Richard Seaborn Blackstock and Georgia Anne Blackstock Glenn. His first wife was Ann Prescott (later married a Werr) and their children were: Ira Arnold and John Henry Blackstock.
