Macon County Georgia Bios McDaniel Page File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Zane Jacobson zanej@veloctius.net Table of Contents page: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/macon.htm Georgia Table of Contents: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm McDaniel Page McDaniel Page was born before 1800 in South Carolina. According to the records of Michelle Taunton and Carol Tatum he was the fourth child of Isaiah Jesse Page I and Dicy Miller. He was first found in the 1820 Horry County, South Carolina census. According to the census there were two boys 16-26 years old and 1 girl over 45. Between 1820-1830, McDaniel left South Carolina and moved to Georgia. He first bought land in Muscogee County, Georgia. Later Marion County was formed from Muscogee County. In the 1830 Marion County Census, McDaniel is listed with 2-females under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 20-30 (wife), and one female 60-70. During the 1830's Macon County, Georgia was formed from half of Marion County. McDaniel Page became a new citizen of Macon County, Georgia. But in 1839, McDaniel died and left a large family. In the 1840 Macon County census, Margarett Page was living on McDaniel Page's land. She had 2 males 5-10, 1 female 5-10, 3 females 10-15, 1 female 30-40, and 1 female 80-90. Also Margarett Page and Slaughter Hill were the administers of McDaniel's estate. The Slaughter Hill family was next door to Margarett Page's household. The only children of McDaniel that we know of are Martha Jane Page, and John David Page. Martha Jane Page was born February 3, 1835, in Marion County, GA. In some early church records Martha Jane was baptized on October 12, 1896. She listed that her parents were McDaniel Page and Martha Grimes. John David Page was born in 1832, Georgia. So the information we have is that McDaniel Page was married to Martha Grimes. They must have married before 1830 because of the children living in the 1830 census in McDaniel's household. Also we need to know who this Margarett Page was. She could have been his second wife and married him between 1836-1839. Also there is a Page/Hill connection somewhere because Slaughter Hill was an administer of McDaniel Page's estate and because Martha Jane Page was living in the Josiah Hill family in the 1850 Macon County census. Martha Jane Page married John Timothy Greene in about 1852. She was the second wife of John Timothy Greene. We have a marriage record of John Greene to Mary Jane Reynolds on January 15, 1839, Hancock County, GA. We know the children of his first marriage, one being Mary J. Greene. She was 13 in the 1860 Coffee County, Alabama census. His other children were John T. Greene, 18 in the 1860 census, and Josephus Greene, 15 and listed as being deaf and dumb. A 80 year old female, Mary Greene, was also listed in the 1860 census. We assumed this was probably John Timothy's mother. Martha Jane Page is my fourth great grandmother. I would appreciate any help or input that you might have. I also have full records of the children of Martha Jane and John Timothy Greene, and would love to share. Thanks for your time and help!
