All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm *********************** This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Meredith Clapper http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00012.html#0002801 MCCARTY CEMETERY Location: Near land of Nathan Bryan (brother to Winnifred) McCarty, Winnifred Bryan b. c. 1823 (Warren or Monroe Co) d. c. 1865 Macon Co, GA McCarty, Infant b-d c. 1865 at birth (infant of Winnifred and Bluett McCarty) One of Mary Crawford Bryan's letters mentions that Nathan & Bluett McCarty had a falling out, so when Winnifred Bryan McCarty [Nathan's sister & Bluett's wife] died in 1865 along with her new baby, she was NOT buried in the family cemetery but a McCarty Garden cemetery was started on Bluett's land. Bluett moved away from Macon Co. with his second wife (perhaps to Crawford Co) and the McCarty cemetery is now treated like regular farm land. It was a plot 6 ft. X 6 ft. spot in the middle of "the end field' with cemetery grass on it. No tombstones to mark. .
