The Allen Cemetery is located just south of Macon, Georgia, on the west side of Houston Road, just north of Echeconee Creek. It is behind the ruin of the old mill formerly operated by David Allen. The cemetery occupies a plot of ground about twelve feet square, and it is surrounded by an iron fence. It is grown up with trees, vines, and poison ivy. It contains three or four graves, but the markings on only one headstone could be read from outside the fence. The one headstone reads: David Allen died August 21, 1864 Aged 54 yrs, 7 mos, 28 days Emeline P. Allen beloved wife of David Allen died There is no further inscription. One other tombstone, which could not be read at on April 24, 2001, is said to read as follows: Irene Allen Waite Daughter of D. & E. T. Allen Beloved wife of Rev. F. C. Waite Died Feb 7, 1876 Aged 30 yrs, 5 mos. 3 ds After life’s fitful fever she sleepeth well According to her obituary, Emeline P. Allen is also buried in this cemetery.
