Hill, P.Z. Hill and Z.J. Mott (each known to said attesting officer as truthful, reliable and reputable citizens), who severally say under oath, that from their own personal knowledge, Mrs. Betsy A. Mott, of the County of Macon, State of Georgia, is the widow of Jesse Mott, who was a soldier in Company D of Bonaud’s Battalion of Georgia Volunteers. That said soldier enlisted in the service of the Confederate States (or the Georgia State Troops) on or about the 19th day of February, 1864. That while in said service, or by reason of said service in the Army, he lost his life as follows: That while in battle at Ocean Pond in the State of Florida he was shot and killed by the enemy. We further swear that Betsy A. Mott was the wife of said soldier during the service and that she has not remarried since his death and that she resides in Macon County of the State of Georgia. The battalion was organized as Siege Artillery, but from January, 1864, it served as infantry. (note: the * footnote was printed on the muster roll slip) Additional Comments: Enlistment date is in error, muster rolls consistently reflect enlistment date of Aug 15, 1863. NOTE: P.Z. Hill was P(reserved) Z(arve) Hill, thus the reason he went by P.Z. He and Wesley were brothers. Both sons of Archibald Hill. Wesley served in Co. A, 28th Ga Siege Artillery and P.Z. served Co. B, 64th Ga Inf.
