Johnson & Son and aided by a high wind soon had the little town covered by fire and smoke, a goodly portion of the business section being reduced to ashes. The Bank of Idea, together with the storehouses and contents of Sutton & Smith, S.K. Johnson & Son and the Ideal Drug Co. were destroyed. H.J. Myrick, who moved his stock of goods suffered a small loss through damage done by rain. It is not known how the fire originated. All of the property burned is partly covered by insurance.
