Francis Marion Bryan, born May 11, 1833: died August 1, 1897. He exemplified the life that an honest, upright, industrious man and consistent, devoted Christian should live. March 31, 1857, he married Annie Elizabeth Carson. Forty years they traveled life's highway, smoothing its rugged places for others as well as themselves. He had no children, but for many years cared for and directed those bereft of a father, and nobly did he discharge his duties to them. He was everywhere recognized as an example of honor and integrity. His influence will long remain for good. A consistent member and active deacon of Reynold's Baptist church, he was regular and prompt in attendance, liberal in contributions, and active in the business and benevolent affairs of the church. "'Tis not all of life to live Nor all of death to die." "For when the body and the tomb are dust Still--still survives the memory of the just."
