Duke Dead Mrs. W.T. Foster received a message last Thursday morning that her father, Mr. A. Duke, who lives near Grangerville in Macon County, was seriously ill and not expected to live, and she immediately left by private conveyance to see him ere he passed beyond the river of death. He was conscious when she arrived and he recognized his daughter, but died a short while afterwards. Mr. Duke was eighty-four years of age and his death was due to a general wearing out of the system. He had been a member of the Baptist church many years and he had lived the life of a Christian and died in the faith of his Master. His remains were laid to rest at Salem church.
