[12 Dec 1965] OGLETHORPE - Sam Joe English, Sr., 82' of Oglethorpe, who retired this year after serving 20 years as Macon County coroner, died Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Elder J. W. Hartley and Elder Robert Torrence will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. English was a native of Macon County and had resided there all his life. He was a deacon in the Red Hill Church for many years. The church was founded by his grandfather, Samson English. Survivors include six sons, Thomas M. English of Macon, David, John and Emory English, all of Oglethorpe, Sam J. English, Jr. of Warner Robins and Floyd English of Ideal; five daughters, Mrs. James Faulk of Hawkinsville, Mrs. Quinn Melton of Oglethorpe, Mrs. T. W. Theus of Cordele, Mrs. Johnny Collum of Americus and Mrs. S. D. Charnley of Longdale, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Dan Lleckley of Oglethorpe; 25 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
