W.J. Griffin Hon. W.J. Griffin’s many friends in this and adjoining counties are deeply grieved by his recent death, which occurred at an Atlanta Sanitarium last Saturday following an illness of several months. Mr. Griffin was one of Macon County’s most honored and prominent citizens, his home being at Oglethorpe. Having held a number of public offices, and with credit to his county, the last and which he held practically up to the time of his death was that of postmaster at Oglethorpe. “Bill” Griffin, as he was affectionately called by his friends has been in ill health for some time, and only recently had gone for treatment, but returned and last week went to Atlanta. He was a member of the Masonic order. Despite his ill health his cheery smile was always in evidence and he had friends in every part of this section who regard his death as a personal loss. Col. and Mrs. H.P. Wallace, and others from Butler attended the funeral at Oglethorpe Sunday. Mrs. Chas. H. Neisler, of Reynolds, is a daughter of Mr. Griffin, and in these hours of sad bereavement, she has the sympathy of her numerous friends.
