"MARSHALLVILLE NEWS" - The death of Mrs. D. W. Massee, on Wednesday last, was 
a blow felt by all. She had
been a resident of the community for more than the allotted three-score and 
ten years, and during that time had endeared herself to all. She had been in 
an almost helpless state during the past twelve months, so her death was not 
in the nature of a surprise.
The funeral was attended largely, many coming from a distance to witness the 
interrment. The services conducted by Rev. Mr. Cleveland, the venerable pastor 
of the aged Dr. and Mrs. Massee, were touching in their depth, simplicity and 
feeling. He read the scripture concerning the burial of Sarah, in the cave of 
Mechpelah by the aged Father in Israel, and comparing the services of Thursday 
he said that he thought of them as the burial of another Sarah by another 
Abraham, and spake touchingly of the couple who through more than fifty years 
of married life had walked in the narrow path and kept the commandments of 
God; and now, one of them was ready to be delivered, having "fought a good 
fight" and "kept the faith."
