He is buried in the Black Cemetery; Hix, Madison, GA. John married Eugenia Elizabeth Culbertson March 7, 1886 Madison County, GA. Eugenia, daughter of James "Jim" Madison Culbertson and Mary Ann Josephine "Josie" Hix, was born August 11, 1868 Banks County, GA and died September 29, 1949 Royston, Franklin, GA. She is buried Ila City Cemetery; Ila, GA. Their first child, Obelia "Beliah" Black, was born in Athens, GA and died December 23, 1928 in Madison County, GA. She is buried in the New Hix Cemetery; Madison County, GA. Beliah married Doss J. Hix September 17, 1902 in Madison County, GA. Their second child, Oney Pearl Black, was born in Athens, GA and is buried in the Black Cemetery; Hix, Madison, GA. Their third child, Jessie Lumpkin Black, was born in Athens, GA and died September 29, 1942 (not 1941 as recorded in the bible) in Spartanburg, SC. Jessie is buried Bethel Cemetery; Woodruff, SC. He married first Elmira "Myra" Fortson August 9, 1908 in Athens, GA. He married second Lillie Maebell Smith July 4, 1915 in Madison County, GA. Their fourth child, William Cleveland "Cleve" Black, was born in Athens, GA and died April 14, 1961 in Royston, Franklin, GA. He is buried Ila City Cemetery; Ila, Madison, GA. He married Lerlean Hix, daughter of William Hardman Jefferson Davis Hix and Sarah Etta Helen Black, May 14, 1911 in Madison County, GA. Their fifth child was stillborn 1894. Eugenia's second husband was James "Jim" Thomas Cook whom she married February 25, 1900 in Jackson County, GA. He was born March 30, 1870 and died February 17, 1949 in Royston, Franklin, GA; buried Ila City Cemetery.
