Comer, GA From Gholston Stand (intersection of Hwy 172 and Hwy 98), turn onto Hwy 172 heading west. Just past school, turn right onto Fortson Compton Rd., and then left (almost immediately) onto Escoe Rd. (dirt). Follow Escoe Rd. for about two-thirds (2/3) mile. The driveway to the cemetery will be on the left. The cemetery itself may not be visible in warmer months. In winter months, when there is little vegetation, tops of a few of the taller stones may be somewhat visible. There will be open fields on the left before you get to the stand of trees that surround the cemetery. This will help you gauge where to start watching for the drive way. The day these photos were taken, on the right side of the road just before the drive, the red roof top of a two story house was visible. This cemetery, as you will see from the photos, is greatly overgrown and has fallen limbs and trees, vine-type weeds, saplings and sunken graves. Visitation should be on the buddy system in case of accident or medical conerns of visitors.
