First Church Meeting held at Jones Chapel October 6th 1866

1st - Are there any reports from the Preacher in charge

3rd - Has the Superintendant of Sabbath School any report
      Ans - No Sabbath School Since last meeting

      Ans - Posponed until next meeting

6th - Is the church here doing its duty for the cause of Missionaries
      and other church enterprises and for the Collection of orders 
      by the Anual Conference 
      Ans.  No Missionary Collections taken up this year but a 
      conference collection will be taken up.

7th - Is the literature of the Church Circulated as read
      Ans - To some extent

8th - Can the Church extend its work by establishing additional Prayer
      Meetings Sabbath Schools or any other way.
      Ans - We can

9th - Can anything more be done to strengthen and build up the church 
      in the Community and to advance the cause of Christ 
      Ans - We recommend that te members of the church assemble in
      the church before preach each day for the purpose of singing and
      meditating

      habit of drinking ardent spirits to excess.  Appointed a 
      committee of Bros Sorrels, Deen & Ware to infosrm them of
      the charges & report next meeting

2nd - Can the church extend its work by establishing additional
      prayer meetings & appointed Bro Sorrels Superintendent of the
      Sabbath School at Farmers Academy

3rd - Are there any miscellaneous busines

      meeting   Ans  We have commenced two Sabbath Schools.

5th - Is there any miscellaneous busines
      Received the report in reference to Bros Daniel & McEver & the
      church forgave them and agrees to bare with them longer.
      Then nominated Bros C. L. Sorrells & S. H. Ware as delegates
      to the District meeting to be held at
      and Bro N. T. Sanders as alternate.
      Then granted Bro Richard L. Gholston a letter

attend.

The case of Bro James Daniel was taken up and after confession by
Bro Daniel and due consideration the church agreed to forgave him.

The case of Bro Joseph McEver was continued to next Meeting

preaching January 4th 1868

Red the minits of last meeting and approved them.

The case of Bro Joseph McEver was then taken up and the church upon
motion expelled him.

      Bro C. L. Sorrell the Leader reports that several of the members
      has been engaged in dancing.  Appointed Bro N. T. Sanders, Deen
      and S. H. Ware as a Committee to talk to them.  Leader also 
      reports that some of the members has been drinking Spirituous 
      Liquors to excess.  Committee appointed to talk to them Bro
      C. L. Sorrells & J. E. Sanders

3rd - Has the Stewards any report   Ans None

4th - Is there any miscellaneous business
      Elected Bro S. H. Ware Secretary for the year 1868 & appointed 
      Sisters S. H. Scott and Narcisa Daniel as a committe to solicit
      subscriptions for the Southern Christian Advocate.

      to talk to him and report next meeting.

	William Megarety and David G. Breckinridge as a committee of 
	investigation with instructions to report at the next meeting.

The committee of arbitration appointed at last meeting to investigate
the matter between the Deen parties report that we the arbitrators
chosen to investigate the charges against Bro. James M. [Madison] Deen
of going to law against a sister.  We release him of the charge for we
find that Sister Sarah E. Deen commenced the suit.

Resolved that the same above committee of arbitration meet hear on
Saturday before the first Sundat in June and_____to endeavor to get a
settlement between the parties.

Mot. moved and carried that a committee of three to be appointed as
follows.  Charles L. Sorrells, William A. Stone and Alexander McEwen
that the will visit certain members belonging to the church and hear
from them as to why they do not attend to their meetings on Saturday
more regular. 

Ans.  That a  committee of three be appointed as follows.  James Bond,
William A.Stone, and James M. Deen to ______ the church building to
replace ______ to its repairs._____ Bro. William A. Stone elected as
delegate to District Conference.  Bro. John R. Bond alternate.

	any word from him, wherefore the committee proceeded to
	business according to the discipline wherefore,
	Bro Deen was found guilty of the charges preferred against
	him, and was expelled
