All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline King Fammaw54@aol.com November 11, 2005, 9:34 am Rev War Service Declaration of Revolutionary War Service of Timothy Carrington by his son, Daniel Carrington State of Georgia Wilkes County On this the 15th day of October in the year 1855, Personally appeared before me a Justice of the Inferior Court within & for the County & State aforesaid, Daniel Carrington a resident of said State & County aged 78 years, who being duly sworn according to law deposes and says, That he makes the following declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty land & Pension Money he may be entitled to in right of his being one of the Children surviving Winney Carrington who was the widow of Timothy Carrington, a Revolutionary Soldier. He declares that Timothy Carrington was a Private in the Revolutionary war, That he was drafted in the County of Wake in the State of North Carolina and served for the term of Six months. That he has often heard him speak of his services as a soldier in said war. That he was at the battle of Eutaw Springs. That he married Winney King in the County of Loudon in the State of Virginia in the month of December 1774. That they lived together as man & wife until the death of Timothy Carrington which occurred in the month of September in the year 1824. That he never during his life applied for nor obtained any Bounty land or Pension money for his said services in the said war. That his wife Winney Carrington survived him & lived a widow until the 22nd day of October in the year 1852, at which time she died in the County of Coweta & State of Georgia. That she never in her lifetime applied for nor received any Bounty land or Pension money for the services of her said husband in said war. That at her death she left surviving her the following children Daniel Carrington the (declarant), Sarah Carrington, Polly Nash formerly Polly Carrington and Micajah Carrington and no others, all of who still survive and the declarant states that he makes this application for himself & the above mentioned surviving children. He further states that there has never until now been any application by the heirs of Timothy & Winney Carrington for any Bounty land or Pension money in right of services of the services of said Timothy in the Revolutionary War. That the facts of the Marriage of the said Winney & Timothy he derived from having seen the original Family Record which was in the old Family Bible a correct copy of which he has certified to & forwarded to his attornies to be shown the Department. That he has no second evidence of the services of said Timothy. That the original Family Record has been lost or destroyed so that he cannot find it. Georgia Wilkes County Personally appeared before me a Judge of the Inferior Court of said State & County Daniel Carrington a resident of said State & County, aged 78 years who being duly sworn according to law deposes and says that he makes the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision of Congress for the granting of Pension to the widows of Revolutionary Soldiers. He states that he is the son of Timothy and Winney Carrington. That his Father Timothy Carrington served as a soldier in the Revolutionary war. That he first enlisted in the County of Wake & State of North Carolina for the term of six months. That he was in the battle of Eutaw Springs & served his full term & was honorably discharged. That his father died in the month of September in the year 1824, that he never applied for nor recd. any pension during his life. That Winney Carrington the wife of Timothy & Mother of the affiant died on the 22nd day of October in the year 1852. That she lived and died a widow, and that during her life she never applied for nor recd. Any Pension for the services of her said husband Timothy Carrington in the revolutionary war. That at the death of said Winney Carington she left surviving the following named children, Daniel Carrington, Sarah Carrington, Polly Nash formerly Polly Carrington and Micajah Carrington, all of whom still survive. That he makes this application for himself & the aforesaid Sarah Carrington, Polly Nash & Micajah Carrington. He further states that he has no documentary evidence to prove the service of the said Timothy Carrington in the revolutionary war. That the enclosed record of the marriage of Timothy & Winney is a correct copy of the family record which was given him by his father Timothy Carrington. Proof offered by Daniel Carrington re marriage of Timothy Carrington and Winney King, as well as births of their children. (Written on a separate sheet within the folder) Winney Carrington Wife of Timothy Carrington Was Born July the 16th 1755 and was married in the year 1774---- Daniel Carrington Son of Timothy and Winney his wife was born December the 25th 1776 about five A Clock in the morning. Nancy was Born April the 18th 1778. Henson Carrington was born December the 25th 1780 About ten A Clock at night. Salley Carrington was Born June the 30th 1783 About three------ the morning. Osborn Carrington was Born the 28th of September 1786 —A Clock in the morning. Winney Carrington was Born January the 29th 1789 about three A Clock in the Afternoon. Micajah Carrington son of Timothy and Winney his wife was Born the 8th day of December about three in the afternoon in the year of our Lord 1790. Being the Last of all. Notes: This is not a complete list of the children born to Timothy and Winney King Carrington. Timothy Carrington’s death date is given by Daniel Carrington as 1824. Transcriptions of the Estate records show a filing date of 1822.
