B. Mattox, of our town, were buried at this place -- pneumonia the cause of the deaths. Mrs. Sartin was the mother of Miss Lizzie Sartin who was buried at Jones Chapel on Sunday, just one week before. Easton L. Hulme, his son Wid and young Mr. Sorrells, started this morning for Texas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Atlanta Constitution Tuesday Morning, September 27, 1892 Death on the Possum Hunt Athens, Ga., September 26 (Special) Mr. James Owens, a well known citizen of Danielsville, lost his life by accident Saturday. Mr. Owens was possum hunting Friday night, when a limb fell on him, inflicting injuries which have since resulted in his death. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Constitution: Atlanta, Ga Tuesday, February 8, 1910 Death Struck Him While In His Buggy Aged Samuel Davis Expires En Route To Danielsville Danielsville, Ga., February 7 (Special) Mr. Samuel Davis died suddenly in his buggy about 1 1/2 miles west of here while en route from his home to this place. He was about 75 years old. He was the father of Sheriff Davis, of this county. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Atlanta Constitution Wednesday, July 15, 1921 Page 3 Murder is Charged in Fatal Shooting Athens, Ga., July 12 (Special) Claud Pierce, of Danielsville, was this afternoon shot and killed by Henry Wood, of the same place following, it is alleged, a long existing family row. Wood had sworn out a peace warrant against Pierce, but following Pierce's release by the Danielsville justice, he is alleged to have killed the man. Wood has been placed in Madison county jail charged with murder. He claims that he shot Pierce in self-defense. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Atlanta Constitution Sunday, November 20, 1921 Page Eleven A Negro Shot to Death, Attacking Landlord Athens, Ga., November 10 (Special) Henry Higgins, negro, was shot and killed near Danielsville Saturday by his landlord, Frank Dean, after the black had advanced upon him with an ax. Dean shot in self-defense, it is said by the two witnesses who saw the affair. From the story that is told, Dean had instructed Higgins to take a wagon and a mule to a nearby mill. The negro had refused, and words followed between the landlord and his tenant.
