Danielsville Monitor September 1925

The Board of trustees has finished the selection of teachers for the comoing 
year and school will open Monday August 31st.  A very strong faculty has been 
chosen and prospects are very promising for a successful year in the school 
work.

Comer should be proud of the record her boys and girls have made in the past 
which is quite an honor to old C.H.S.  We have been represented splendidly at 
the leading colleges throught the state by Harlow Thompson, who led the class 
at G.S.C.W. last year; Hiram Whitehead, and Willis and Sara Noell who have 
fine records at the University of Georgia; Ruth Wages, State Normal; May 
Evans, G.S.C.W.; Kathleen Carithers, Agnes Scott; also Elise Nix and Allie 
Evans made splendid records in the teaching profession.

Among those who will enter colege this Fall from this year's class are:  
Evelyn White to G.S.C.W.; Ida Mere Carithers to Chicoa; Hugh Groves to Mercer; 
Ellen Griffeth to Lucy Cobb; Malcolm Rowe to University of Georgia; Shelby 
Williford to Tech and probably others.

The faculty for the coming year is O.G. Lancaster, Supt., Latin; Miss Frances 
Barnes, English and History; Miss Melba Carter, Math and Spanish; Mrs. Mazelle 
Thompson, 7th grade; Miss Ruth Brock, 5th-6h grade; Miss Louise McLeroy, 3rd 
and 4th grades and Domestic Science; Mrs. M.T. Payne, Primary work; Miss Ethel 
Strickland, Music.  Every teacher with one exception has had at least five 
years experience in teaching, and the exception is one who now holds and A.B. 
degree from one of our most reputable colleges, with quite a bit of practice 
teaching.

The school building is being repaired and will be in good shape for the 
opening day.  The entire cost for school fees will be as last year, $5.00 for 
the year; Two dollars to be paid the opening day of school.
