Rev."Sam" Porter Jones was born on Oct.16,1847 in Chambers county,Alabama but moved to Carterville,Georgia in 1859 and resided there since.In 1872,he professed religion and was ordained to the Methodist ministry the same year.For 12 years,he was the agent of the North Georgia orphanage.Due to heart failure he died Monday near Little Rock,Ark. at 4.00 am. during a trip from Oklahoma City to Little Rock,Ark. Additional Comments: he is also listed in Danielsville Monitor papers page 1 Oct. 26,1906 Funeral of Sam Jones.It reads over 5,000 people attended. Also in the same paper reads Sam's estate was valued at about $100,000 inwhich most of it was in life insurance. Then one other article on page 3 Friday Nov. 16,1906 Titled Sam Jones new book reads : " life and saying so Sam Jones " to be sold in Madison county,written by Mrs.Jones and Rev.Walt Holcomb.It says it is over 400 pages and unclear but 50? photos.This article was in the paper by A.F.
