Danielsville Monitor December 3, 1948

Mr. J. W. Dillard, Sr., Honored On His 83rd Birthday
Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25th

   Mr. Dillard was given a surprise Birthday Dinner at the home of his son, 
Mr. T. L. Dillard.
   Mr. Dillard is a native of Oglethorpe County, but has resided in Madison 
County fifty years.  He is the father of four sons and four daughters all of 
whom were present except two.  He has thirty grandchildren and sixteen great 
grandchildren.
   A three tier Birthday Cake beautifully decorated and adorned with eight 
three lighted candles, centered the table.  The Thanksgiving Bounties were 
overflowing and enjoyed by all present.
   Many lovely gifts were presented Mr. Dillard by his children which made the 
occasion a very lovely surprise for Mr. Dillard.
