John Rosenthal, stationing officer. Information from OPA, according to Lieut. Rosenthal disclosed that a member of the armed forces had but to present his furlough papers to his local rationing board and state that he is to be home for seven or more days. For that period he will be allowed 16 points for each week or fraction thereof. He will also be allowed one pound of coffee for the period and one half pound of sugar for each week thereof. Back of this plan was the thought that when a member of the armed forces arrives home on furlough his family usually goes " all out " to do things for him. The best food and entertainment is usually provided but now in case of food. It would work a definite hardship upon the family, thus the 16 point ration.
