With most Govermental Agencies - Federal, State and Municipal - requiring birth certificates from prospective employees, many adults found it difficult to produce necessary evidence to establish proof of identity, stated Richard Brewer, Director of State Vital Statistics. This is why, in substance, Georgia Bureau of Vital Statistics officials are urging parents to get in touch with their local registrars immediately when a child is born and have the birth put on record. Such a procedure will not only be of benefit to the child in future years, but will save the parents additional trouble and expense in procuring a delayed birth certificate at a later date. In addition, the State Legislature has passed a law, whereby parents who are negligent in having recent births registered are liable to a $25 fine, Mr. Brewer continued. There is no fee involved in registering a new-born child's birth, and state- appointed registrars are conveniently located in each militia district of every county. Local registrars in Madison County include: J. F. Brown, Route 2, Carlton; C. G. Blackwell, Box 24, Danielsville; D. E. Graham, Comer; O. L. Adams, Route 2, Danielsville; J.F. Dean, Route 3, Box 52, Danielsville; J. M. Rice, Route 2, Royston, and G. C. Wood, Route 4, Comer.
