P. 'Jake' Bridges Danielsville J.P. "Jake" Bridges, 75, of Route 2 died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996. A native of Madison County, Mr. Bridges was a son of the late Clifford L. and Eda Phelps Bridges and he was preceded in death by a son, Clayton Bridges. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former farmer, school bus driver with Madison County School System and truck driver. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. David Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Aletha Adams Bridges, Danielsville; two sons, Clifford Bridges, Hull, and Robert Bridges, Danielsville; three daughters, Doris Strickland and Diane Smallwood, both of Commerce, and Dora Weatherford, Danielsville; two sisters, Gertrude Strickland, Commerce, and Nettie Lou Sheridan, Easley, S.C.; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family is at the residence of Wesley Bridges, Route 2, Danielsville. Pruitte Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
