A native of Madison County, Mrs. White was a daughter of the late Albert J. and Estelle Wilder Hutcherson and the widow of James E. White. She was a graduate of Madison County High School and a 1968 honor graduate of the University of Georgia. She attended the Georgia Normal School for Teachers and taught in the Bowman, Eagle Grove, Hartwell Elementary and Hartwell Middle school systems. She was a member of the Pine Tree Garden Club, the Retired Teachers Association and Hartwell First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Alathean Sunday School class and the Helen Meredith Missionary Circle. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Hartwell First Baptist Church with Dr. F. Hugh Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Survivors include a son, John E. White, Marietta; a daughter, Rae W. Smith, Rockmart; a sister, Rachel Robbins, Hartwell; and six grandchildren. The family is at the residence and will receive friends 2-3:30 p.m. today at Strickland Funeral Home.
