Hillsman Carlton Mozelle Smith Hillsman, 49, of Route 1, Box 447, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997. A native of Oglethorpe County, Ms. Hillsman was a daughter of Hattie Smith and the late Wheeler Smith. She was a member of Fork Bethel Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Michael Gresham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include two daughters, Hattie Hillsman, Carlton, and Denise Bush, Athens; six sisters, Sarah Johnson, Dora Smith and Gussie Bolton, all of Carlton, Bessie Hill and Mae Bell Curtis, both of Lexington, and Ramona Smith, Elberton; eight brothers, Eddie Smith, Jesse Smith, Willie F. Smith, Grady Smith and Robert Smith, all of Carlton, Willie L. Smith and Clifford Smith, both of Athens, and Manse Fleming, Crawford; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family is at the residence. Lexington Funeral Chapel, Lexington, is in charge of arrangements.
