A native of Madison County, Mr. Childers was a son of the late Sweet Miles and Clara Jane Benton Childers. He was a retired cotton mill supervisor. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Vineyards Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Coile officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Gladys G. Childers; two sons, Jimmy T. Childers, Comer, and Johnny T. Childers, Dewy Rose; three daughters, Shirley Meyers, Bountiful, Utah, Catherine Kidd, Comer, and Linda Robinson, Baytown, Texas; a sister, Nina Bates, Colbert; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family is at the residence and will receiver friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville.
