Pettyjohn Mrs. Nell W. Pettyjohn, 83, of Hull, died Monday, September 6, 1999. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Pettyjohn was a daughter of the late John Martin and Minty Samantha House White. She lived in the Hull area all of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Pettyjohn joined East Athens Baptist Church at age 13, where she remained a longtime member. She was also a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 8, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Terry James officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Mrs. Pettyjohn's nephews, along with Johnny Barber, served as pallbearers. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Eugene Pettyjohn; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Dolores Pettyjohn, Athens; one sister, Cora Lee Seabolt, Winterville; sisters-in-law, Wilma White and Nina White, both of Athens; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. White John Quinton White, 80, of Commerce, died Thursday, September 9, 1999, at his residence following a sudden illness. Mr. White was born February 22, 1919 in Madison County. He was a son of the late Willie and Texie White. Mr. White was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the Philippines. He worked at Harmony Grove Mills, with 30 years of service, later retiring as a painting contractor. Mr. White was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce, where he served his Lord and church as a deacon since 1973, family members said. He loved his family and friends and was well loved by them. Mr. White was preceded in death by two brothers, J.W. White and Thomas White. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with Phillip Turner and the Revs. Don Paulson and Kent Cranford officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Gee White; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jounior Dickerson, Commerce; two brothers, Billy White, Lexington, and Charles "Bootsie" White, Commerce; three sisters, Geraldine Tony, Homer, and Virginia Standridge and Sara Ann Daniels, both of Commerce; grandchildren and spouses, Phillip and Elaine Turner, Gainesville, Vickie and Scott Yaughn, Braselton, and Michele and Joseph Head, Commerce; four great-grandchildren, Etta and Lucas Yaughn, both of Braselton, and Zachary and Ashley Turner, both of Gainesville; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Commerce. Hayes Hill, 81, of Kennesaw, died Friday, September 10, 1999. Mrs. Hill was born in Royston. She had lived in Kennesaw for the past seven years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hill attended the First Baptist Church of Woodstock and was a member of the Kennesaw Senior Citizens. Funeral services were held Monday, September 13, in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. Burial was in the Gresham Family Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Irene Hill-Burge, Kennesaw; three sons, David C. Hill and Roger A. Hill, both of Tampa, Fla., and James "Andy" Hill, Kennesaw; one sister, Estella Haves Costa, Decatur; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Yarbrough Mrs. Sara Margaret Jenkins Yarbrough, 78, of Watkinsville, died Monday, September 6, 1999, at a local hospital. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Yarbrough was born November 18, 1920. She was a daughter of the late Henry Beecher and Sarah Ollie Dillard Jenkins. Mrs. Yarbrough attended West Georgia College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at College Park High School for 30 years, and was a member of Watkinsville First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Yarbrough had resided in East Point for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Wyatt Yarbrough. Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 8, at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Mrs. Yarbrough's brother, the Rev. Ray S. Jenkins, Danielsville, officiating. Survivors, in addition to her brother, include son and daughter-in- law, Ed J. and Debbie Yarbrough, Watkinsville; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Marcile Kitchens, Decatur; brothers, B. Tyson Jenkins and H. Austin Jenkins, both of Danielsville; four grandchildren, Melissa D. Yarbrough, Seattle, Wash., Ali P. Gilliam, Bethlehem, and Christopher E. Yarbrough and Megan Yarbrough, both of Watkinsville; and a number of nieces and nephews. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Walden was a daughter of the late John and Alice Ann Smith Gregory. She was member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Walden was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Walden. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 12, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Jimmy Strickland officiating. Burial was in the Walnut Fork Baptist Church cemetery. Fowler Mrs. Addie Leona Cole Fowler, 88, of Hartwell, died Tuesday, September 7, 1999. A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Fowler was a daughter of the late John Henry and Pearlie Ann Whitzel Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of Hartwell Church of Christ. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, Roger "Ranny" Fowler, a daughter, Patricia Ann Fowler, and two sons, Robert Bruce Fowler and Jerry Lawrence Fowler. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 9, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug McArthur officiating. Burial was in Nancy Hart Memorial Park. She was a member of Toccoa Christian Church. Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Andrews. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 9, in the chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Price officiating. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Barry was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Barry. Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 15, in the Colbert City Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Lang officiating.
