Dyer Mrs. Clifford Melissa Dyer, 87, of Danielsville, died Sunday, August 29, 1999, at her residence. Mrs. Dyer was born January 14, 1912 in Gainesville. She was a daughter of the late James and Gertrude Weaver Thomas. Mrs. Dyer was preceded in death by a son, Charlie G. Dyer. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 1, at Full Gospel Holiness Church with the Revs. Lester Haynes and Larry Dyer officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Joe Collie Dyer; three sons, Dewey Dyer, Blacksburg, S.C., Herschel Dyer, Danielsville, and Hubert Dyer, Lula; two daughters, Lucille Hooper, Nicholson, and Ethelene Meadow, Commerce; three brothers, Billy Thomas, Gainesville, and Bobby Thomas and Charlie Thomas, both of Baldwin; five sisters, Pearlee Armour, Belton, Vadie Armour, Dorothy King and Phoebe Thomas, all of Alto, and Winnie Ward, Seneca, N.C.; 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Carroll Randy Dewayne Carroll, 17, of Colbert, died. A native of Anderson County, Tenn., Mr. Carroll was a son of Greg and Margarett Carroll Ridenour. He was a member of Colbert First Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at Renewed Hope Full Gospel Ministry Church, Lafollette, Tenn., with the Revs. Andrew Airs and Charles Tackett officiating. Burial was in Davis Cemetery, Lafollette, Tenn. Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two sisters, Ashley Parks, Campbell County, Tenn., and Amanda Partain, Hull; and three brothers, Clifton Carroll, Campbell County, Tenn., and D.J. Ridenour and Josh Ridenour, both of Colbert. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Group of Colbert First Baptist Church. Archer Miss Krystal Gayle Archer, 17, of Elberton, died Tuesday, August 31, 1999. A native of Athens, Miss Archer was a daughter of James Tony Archer and Robin Dudley. Graveside services were held Saturday, September 4, in the New Hope Presbyterian Church cemetery with the Rev. Dan McConnell officiating. Gene Archer, Joe Cox, Jamie Cox, James Salter and Bill Knapp served as pallbearers. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include one sister, Andrea Elaine Archer, Elberton. Martin Mrs. Costello Pope Martin, 53, of Athens, died Sunday, August 29, 1999. Mrs. Martin was a daughter of Florence Thomas Barnett. She was retired from the Social Security Administration and was a member of the Burney-Harris Class of 1965. Mrs. Martin was also a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Essau E. Martin. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 2, in the chapel of Mack & Payne Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Bobby Bloodsaw officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Tony Resby, Willie Coppock, Adullah Muhammad, David Bell, Kelvin Porter and Ruben Thomas served as pallbearers. Flower bearers were Denise Barnett, Selinda Thomas and Uzella Taylor. Members of the Burney-Harris Class of 1965 served as honorary pallbearers and flower bearers. Survivors, in addition to her mother, include four daughters, Edith Teresa Martin, Torea Jones and Rachel Martin, all of Athens, and Elaina Martin, Hull; two sons, Rick Lance Martin and Tommy Martin, both of Athens; six sisters, Florence Resby, Riverdale, Mary Schupeta, Atlanta, Jeanette Watson, Watkinsville, and Paulette Johnson, Vickie Thomas and Elizabeth Jones, all of Athens; three brothers, Adullah "Tommy" Muhammad, Lawrenceville, and Ruben Thomas and Jerry Jones, both of Athens; and 11 grandchildren. Ginn James Samuel Ginn, 72, of Commerce, died Sunday, September 5, 1999, at his residence. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Ginn was born October 6, 1926. He was a son of the late Earl and Ila Spurlock Ginn. Mr. Ginn was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired supervisor with Westinghouse. He was a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Ginn was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Ginn. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 7, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Troy Herbert and Elwyn Wilbanks officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Sue Ayers Ginn; one son, Keith Ginn, Commerce; two daughters, Tricia Ginn, Commerce, and Jamie Jordan, Hartwell; and two grandchildren. Scarbrough Mrs. Geraldine Purser Scarbrough, 74, of Macon, died Friday, August 13, 1999. A native of Commerce, Mrs. Scarbrough was born in February of 1925. She was a daughter of the late Howard and Musette Jackson Wheeler, formerly of Commerce. Mrs. Scarbrough was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and of the Truth Seekers Sunday School class. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 15, at Hart's Mortuary, Macon. Burial was in Macon Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Scarbrough; children, Richard Purser, Macon, Stanley Purser, Griffin, Valeria Lodge, Nashville, Tenn., and Regina Ballard, Sandersville; step-children, Norma Jean Lucas, Cochran, Shirley Ward, Baldwin County, and Rose Jones, Macon; one brother, Melvin Wheeler, Savannah; seven grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great- grandchildren. Snipes Darrell Randy Snipes, 43, of Maysville, died Thursday, September 2, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens, following an extended illness. A native of Commerce, Mr. Snipes was born February 12, 1956. He was a son of Barbara Ann Snipes, Maysville, and the late Darrell James Snipes. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 5, at Freedom Church of God with the Revs. Curtis Hammonds and Tim Garrett officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, Randy Chad Snipes, Homer; one daughter, Kala Ann Snipes, Toccoa; and two brothers, Ricky Snipes, Maysville, and Ronny Snipes, Commerce. A native of Banks County, Mr. Eubanks was born August 10, 1904. He was a son of the late William and Fannie Nunn Eubanks. Mr. Eubanks was retired from Blue Bell Manufacturing and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Mae Thompson Eubanks. Graveside services were held Sunday, September 5, in the Beaverdam Baptist Church cemetery with Dr. Ray E. Richardson officiating. Survivors include two sons, Albert Eubanks Jr., Taylor, S.C., and Billy Eubanks, Commerce; five daughters, Jane Bare, Snellville, Rebecca Bennefield, Hampton, Imogene Seabolt, Commerce, Peggy Standridge, Stockbridge, and Mildred Wilson, Warner Robins; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
