Born in Bibb County, Mrs. Strickland was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Nettie Gilbert Croom. She was a member of Gordon Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, where she kept the nursery for many years. She was a member of the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in Danielsville. She was the widow of James Wade Strickland. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, with the Rev. Wendell Baggett officiating. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Helen Alice and W. Doyle Beatenbough, Danielsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles William and Dorothy Jackson Strickland, East Point; a sister, Ruby Jewel Perkins, St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Susan Poletti, Woodside, Calif., Jennifer Leigh, Burlingame, Calif., Cynthia Webnar, Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Victor Boynton, Franklin, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Family Life Center, c/o Joe May, P.O. Box 1052, Danielsville, GA 30633. Pruitte Funeral Home, Royston, is in charge of arrangements.
