Simmons Wiley Ed Simmons, 71, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, Mr. Simmons was a son of the late Hollis Eugene and Lucy Dean Simmons. He was owner and operator of W.E. Simmons Contractors since 1965. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 6, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, with the Rev. Calvin Coile officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Tyler Hollis Simmons, Maurice Allen Burdette, Nathan Adam Simmons, Tracy Harris, Keith Lord and Wayne Pittard served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were employees of W.E. Simmons Contractors. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Bessie Simmons; one daughter, Patricia Burdette, Elberton; two sons, Paul E. Simmons and Donald W. Simmons, both of Danielsville; four sisters, Willie Lee Nichols, Hull, JoAnne Burgess, Birmingham, Mary Dilbeck, Roswell, and Martha Bolding, Gainesville; one brother, John M. Couch Sr. Weyman Barto Couch Sr., 67, of Hull, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000. A native and lifelong resident of the Athens area, Mr. Couch was a son of the late Jerome and Dora Lee Huff Couch. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Compass Community Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 6, at Compass Community Church with the Rev. Jim Carpenter officiating. Entombment was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Darren Dudley, Bootsie Glenn, Scott Hughes, Felton Mobley, Melvin Moon and Max Sanders served as pallbearers. Graham Mrs. Aldine Rice Graham, 95, of Warner Robins, died Saturday, July 8, 2000. Mrs. Graham was born in Franklin County, a daughter of the late James and Callie Hooper Rice. She had worked as an office nurse for Gholston-Burroughs Bond and served as deputy probate judge for Madison County. Mrs. Graham was a member of Danielsville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Colley Graham. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 11, in the chapel of Brown's Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Gerald Varner officiating. Burial was in the Danielsville Cemetery. Terry Culberson, Steven Henley, Terry Floyd, Pat Graham and Larry Cooper served as pallbearers. Mrs. Graham is survived by one daughter, Marion Henley, Warner Robins; one son, LeRoy Graham, Lilburn; one grandchild, one great- grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Kittle, 88, of Athens, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Flowery Branch Health and Rehab Nursing Home. Mr. Kittle was born May 11, 1912, in Jackson County. He was a son of the late Neal and Fannie Moore Kittle. Mr. Kittle was retired from the University of Georgia and was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church, Athens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Amanda Stringer Kittle. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8, at Crooked Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Tom Miles and Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Kittle is survived by two daughters, Mattie Ruth Kittle and Martha Frances Puckett, both of Athens; one son, John F. Graham Mrs. Geraldine Rebecca Graham, 58, of Commerce, died Monday, July 10, 2000. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Graham was a daughter of Clyde McRee, Commerce, and the late James W. McRee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Casper Graham. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Revs. Richard Gasser and Jeremy Baseman officiating. Burial was in Boggs Chapel Cemetery. Sartain Mrs. Lerlin Inez Carey Sartain, 83, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Sartain was born November 15, 1916, in Madison County. She was a daughter of the late E.P. Carey and Molly Sexton Carey. Mrs. Sartain was a homemaker and a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Sartain, three brothers, Cleo, Chester and Coy Carey, and three sisters, Trella Harper, Effie Miller and Bertie Bragg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Martin T. Coile and Ted Kelley and Marvin Coffee officiating. Brown Mrs. Shelby Jean Sexton Brown, 60, of Royston, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Brown was born January 13, 1940, in Madison County. She was a daughter of the late Loyd and Ruby Ward Sexton. Mrs. Brown was a kindergarten paraprofessional at Royston Elementary School and was a member of Vanna United Methodist Church. She was involved in many activities at Vanna UMC, including serving as treasurer of the U.M.W. and Memorial Fund. She was also a member of the Adult II Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtice Lou Ingram and Geraldine McElreath. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at Vanna United Methodist Church with the Revs. Sharon Waters and Tim Peek officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Bobby L. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8, at Little Country Church with the Revs. Charles Elrod, Joel Shadburn and Jack Pope officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery.
