Puckett Walter Roy "Mr. Walt" Puckett, 89, of Winder, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000. Mr. Puckett was born in January 1911, a son of Ephraim Anderson and Azalee Hayes Puckett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzy Mae Cheatham Puckett, and a son, Roy Puckett. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 10, in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder. Burial was in the Providence Church cemetery, Statham. Mr. Puckett is survived by two sons, Jimmy Puckett, Statham, and Alan Puckett, Bogart; five daughters, Sue Bradshaw, Bogart, Inez Kennedy, Winder, Jeanette Kennedy, Ila, Betty Ann Jones, Crawford, and Shirley Dalton, Athens; four sisters, Dorothy Busbin and Maggie Puckett, both of Athens, Anne Lord, Center, Rose Mary Harrison, Decatur; four brothers, Sim Puckett, Winder, and Carroll Puckett, Milton Puckett and Billy Puckett, all of Athens; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patton Mrs. Ollie Bell Patton, 92, of Hull, died Friday, August 11, 2000. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, Mrs. Patton was a daughter of the late John Glen and Carrie Holcomb Brown. She was a retiree of the Big Ace Corporation and served as a Sunday School teacher for 40 years. Mrs. Patton was a member of the Homemaker Sunday School Class of Hull Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey W. Patton. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, at Hull Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Billy Aike, Doyle Bond, Tim Brown, Titus Brown, Coleman Ivester and Spratt Bullock served as pallbearers. Mrs. Patton's grandchildren served as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include one daughter, Helen L. Black, Warner Robins; one son, Herman C. Patton, Hull; two sisters, Frances Bond and Lois Aiken, both of Hull; one brother, Coile F. Brown, Hull; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. Stille, 82, of Commerce, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000. Mrs. Stille was born in Mitchell County, Pelham, Ga., a daughter of the late Robert Nathaniel and Jessie Carrie Sizemore West. She was a homemaker and served as senior citizen chaplain of Madison County. Mrs. Stille was a member of Ila Baptist Church, as well as a member of Southern Baptist Churches. She was a faithful worker for over 65 years, family members said. She taught Sunday School and Sunbeams for many years and was a real Christian example, not only in public, but at home as well. She enjoyed sending cards to those in need and treasured each and every card that she received. She now resides happily in Heaven, family added. Mrs. Stille was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Stille. Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, at Ila Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Anderson and Mark Fite officiating. Burial was in Ila Cemetery. Webb Gordon, Tim Keefe, David Dees, Bill Tuner, Jeff Wells and Ken Gordon served as pallbearers. Tim Gordon served as honorary pallbearer. Mrs. Stille is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Lowell Hawes, Commerce, and Barbara and Bill Jenness, Stuart, Fla.; one son, Johnny Stille, Loxahatchee, Fla.; two sisters, Jane Keefe, Ila, and Joyce Wisenbaker, Florida; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Davis John Henry Davis, 90, of Royston, died Friday, August 11, 2000. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Davis was a son of the late Walter G. and Sue Ledbetter Davis. He was retired from law enforcement and was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Watson Davis. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Malcolm Herndon officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens, North. Pearson Larry Russell Pearson, 49, of Athens, died Thursday, August 10, 2000. Born in Clarke County, Mr. Pearson was a son of the late Paul Dewey and Marguerite Lord Pearson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked as a commercial insulation installer. Mr. Pearson was a member of Cornerstone Church of God and a member of the National Asbestos Workers Union Local 48. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, at Cornerstone Church of God with the Rev. Robert Shepard officiating. Entombment was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Mr. Pearson is survived by his wife, Shirley Moss Pearson; one daughter, Pam Layne, Athens; two sons, Bill Bradberry, Chesapeake, Va., and Jeff Bradberry, Atlanta; three sisters, Deloris Cochran, Nicholson, Patricia Medlin, Danielsville, and Peggy Bray, Jefferson; one brother, Paul Pearson, Danielsville; and three grandchildren. Hardaway Mrs. Annie Grace Gunnells Hardaway, 55, of Athens, died Wednesday, August 9, 2000. A native of Danielsville, Mrs. Hardaway was a daughter of Daniel Gunnells Sr. and Mary Etta Gunnells. She was employed as a production supervisor with Carrier Transicold and was a member of Tabors Chapel C.M.E. Church, Ila. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, at Tabors Chapel C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Morris Colvin officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Members of the Athens High & Industrial School Class of 1963 served as pallbearers and flower bearers. Edwards, 77, of Athens, died Saturday, August 12, 2000. A native of Madison County, Mr. Edwards was a son of the late Oscar and Maude Draper Edwards. He was a veteran of World War II, where he received the Bronze and Silver Stars. Mr. Edwards was retired from Colonial Grocery Stores and was a member of Athens First Christian Church. Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Ray Austin officiating. Burial was in the Center United Methodist Church cemetery. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Margaret Pace Edwards; one daughter, Melanie Edwards Bluett, Athens; and nieces and nephews. Burial was in Arnoldsville Cemetery. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Thomas; one daughter, Marie Osmun-Little, Grand Rapids, Mich.; one son, Durrell E.
