Kirk Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Beard Kirk, 75, of Danielsville, died Friday, July 14, 2000, at her residence. Mrs. Kirk was born March 2, 1925, in Madison County. She was a daughter of the late Ben Beard and Hearlie Jane Phillips Beard. Mrs. Kirk was a seamstress and attended Evangelical Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leonard Kirk, two grandchildren, Stacy and Phil Kirk, four brothers, Buck Beard, Joe T. Beard, Bill Beard and Harold Beard, and three sisters, Clara Baxter, Avis Baxter and Sudie Haley. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 16, at Evangelical Methodist Church with the Revs. Tim Peek and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Kirk's nephews served as pallbearers. Survivors include two sons, Charles Larry Kirk and Roger Kirk, both of Danielsville; one sister, Runette "Rooster" Faulkner, Danielsville; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Lunsford Mrs. Alma Victoria Lunsford, 91, of Comer, died Tuesday, July 11, 2000. Mrs. Lunsford was born in Wilkes County, a daughter of the late Walter Martin and Ressie Mercer McClain. She had worked at Monarch Sewing Plant and served as a Sunday School teacher for 45 years at Vineyards Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by her husband, Quillian H. Lunsford. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 13, at Vineyards Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Thomas Dial, Calvin Coile and James Page officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include one son, Charles Lunsford, Comer; one sister, Helen Bradford, Ashland, Ala.; one brother, L.R. McClain, Comer; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Varner Amory Kytle Varner, 62, of Commerce, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at his residence. Mr. Varner was born June 2, 1938, in Commerce. He was a son of the late Felton and Etta Mae Irvin Varner. Funeral services were held Monday, July 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Mr. Varner is survived by one brother, Tommy Varner, Commerce. Sexton, 78, of Danielsville, died Thursday, July 13, 2000. Born in Madison County, Mr. Sexton was a son of the late James Melvin and Mollie Crow Sexton. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. Sexton was a retired photographic supervisor with the University of Georgia and was a member of Moon's Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 15, at Moon's Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Tony Lee and Don Fuller officiating. Burial was in the Danielsville Cemetery. Charles Smith, Todd Smith, Verlon Moulder, Keith Hammond, Jim Mayes and Doug Thomas served as pallbearers. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Luke Sexton; daughter and son-in-law, Terri Sexton and Barry Franks, Danielsville; one granddaughter, Molly Ree Franks; one grandson, Jonathan Franks; and several nieces and nephews. Gunter Wendell Talmadge Gunter, 59, of Winder, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000. A native of Walton County, Mr. Gunter was a son of the late Roy Lee and Lizzie Dorsey Gunter. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was a retired carpenter and small engine repairman. Mr. Gunter was a member of the VFW Post 2872. Funeral services were held Friday, July 14, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Tom Lang officiating. Survivors include one son, Scott Hefner, Clarkesville; three sisters, Robbie Nash, Hoschton, Virginia Cooper, Statham, and Joyce Flanigan, Hull; one brother, Charles L. Swain Mrs. Agnes Ingram Swain, 91, of Maysville, died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. Mrs. Swain was born October 9, 1908, a daughter of the late Jack Parr and Vinnie Voyles Parr. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 15, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Harvey Smith and Brian Stowe officiating. Burial was in the Dry Pond United Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include one son, Jack Ingram, Comer; three daughters, Lorene Austin, Maysville, Louise Carey, Ila, and Johnnie Pace, Nicholson; one sister, Claudene Lance, Gainesville; six step-sons, Edgar Swain, Little Rock, Ark., J.C. Swain and Fred Swain, both of Commerce, Walter Swain Jr., Homer, Arthur Lee Swain, Athens, and Joe Swain, Pendergrass; 15 grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
