Underwood Anthony James Underwood, 46, of Pendergrass, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at his residence. Mr. Underwood was born April 1, 1954, in Clarke County. He was a son of James R. Underwood, Pendergrass, and the late Virginia Gee Underwood. Mr. Underwood was employed as a forklift operator with Springs Industries in Gainesville and was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Jefferson. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 21, in the chapel of Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with Dr. Gerald Mitton officiating. Burial was in the Pendergrass Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his father, include one daughter, Jennifer Underwood, Gainesville; one son, Brian Underwood, Commerce; two sisters, Angela Fegley, Colbert, and Sonja Whitsitt, Ft. Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Bishop, 64, of Watkinsville, died Thursday, June 15, 2000. A native of Greene County, Mr. Bishop was a son of the late Charlie Orin and Mary Liddie Lomax Bishop. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a retired electrician. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 18, at Cornerstone Christian Church, Madison, with the Rev. Walter Venable officiating. Burial was in Almand Cemetery. Phillip Lord, Mickey Lord, Kenneth Bishop, Louis Bishop, Dewey Bishop and David Walls served as pallbearers. Survivors include three daughters, Lesia Howell, Madison, Susan Huff, Reliance, Tenn., and Emma Price, Athens; two sons, Glenn Bishop and Adrian Bishop, both of Madison; two sisters, Mildred Hammond, Bishop, and Lorine Walls, Hull; one brother, Carlton Bishop, Watkinsville; five grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Allen, 66, of Royston, died Thursday, June 15, 2000. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Allen was a son of the late George Henry and Lorene Chitwood Allen. He was retired from the City of Royston and attended Canon Church of God. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 18, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Leon Auttles, Johnny Stowe and Gettis Allen officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery, Lavonia. Mrs. Barfield was born in Milton County, a daughter of A.D. and Mary Osborn Lowry. Formerly of Atlanta, she had lived in the Danielsville area for the past 30 years. Mrs. Barfield was retired from Arrow Shirt Company, with 50-plus years of service, and attended Moon's Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Barfield. Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 20, in Arlington Memorial Park, Atlanta, with the Rev. Dan Fuller officiating. Survivors include three nephews, Greg Pierce, Hull, Jeff Cornish, Ila, and C.A. Lowry, Danielsville; and four nieces, Betty Hilton, Comer, Gerry Cornish, Danielsville, Kristy Pierce, Athens, and Jennifer Pierce, Winterville. Carver Mrs. Mildred W. Carver, 73, of Ila, died Thursday, June 15, 2000. Born in Savannah, Mrs. Carver was a daughter of W.L. Weathers, Baldwin, and the late Mamie Bazemore Weathers. She was an antiques dealer. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 17, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, Danielsville, with the Rev. David Terrell officiating. Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, Wesley E. Carver; one daughter, Darleen Meadows, Statham; two sons, Michael Carver, Ila, and Alan Carver, Danielsville; one step- daughter, Linda Gay, Charleston, S.C.; one step-son, Gene Carver, Pine Bluff, Ark.; two sisters, Betty Harvey, Columbus, and Cheryl Smart, San Jose, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Williams Hugh Dorsey Williams, 83, of Commerce, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. Mr. Williams was born July 28, 1916, in Madison County. He was a son of the late Berry Jim and Donie Hix Williams. Mr. Williams was retired from the State Highway Department and was a member of Blacks Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Jeanette Borders Williams. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 20, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Kenneth Hendrix and John Phillips officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Mr. Williams is survived by one son, Jimmy Williams, Nicholson; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. She was a daughter of Bob and Jeanne Bacle, Commerce. Miss Bacle had lived in Commerce since 1990 and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Danielsville. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 17, at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Douglas Duncan and Charles Chapman officiating. Burial was in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her fiancé, Joe Dumais II, Commerce; one sister, April Joy Bacle, Commerce; one brother, Robert Ben Bacle Jr., Cornelia; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ollie Belle, LaGrange; aunts and uncles, Sue and Bill Frampton, LaGrange, and Alice and Andy Koone, Pine Mountain; aunt, Gail Bacle, Hull; uncle, Jody Allen, LaGrange; and several cousins.
