A native of Oglethorpe County, Mrs. Paul was a daughter of the late Theodore and Flora Freeman Ewing. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of the Nations. Mrs. Paul was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Paul. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 3, at Church of the Nations with the Rev. Mel Holmes officiating. Burial was in Athens Memory Gardens. Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Gordon, Watkinsville; two step-daughters, Connie Street, Lawrenceville, and Sandra Godwin, Haralson; three sons, Sal Merola Jr., Bogart, Reggie Merola, Winder, and Tim Merola, Watkinsville; one step-son, Gary Paul, Athens; four sisters, Thelma Hollis, Jefferson, Louise Cannon, Athens, Willie Holder, Cleveland, and Frances Mills, Holiday; one brother, Jerry Ewing, Monroe; 16 grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Segars Griffin Cole Segars, infant son of Christopher Shane and Lori Ann Scarborough Segars, Statham, died Tuesday, December 5, 2000. Nunn Mrs. Ruby Lee Nunn, 82, of Athens, formerly of Oconee County, died Monday, December 4, 2000. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Nunn was a daughter of the late Jewell and Maude Wilson Phillips. She was formerly employed with Poss's Lakeview Restaurant and was a member of Athens Church of Christ. Mrs. Nunn was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Nunn. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 6, at Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville, with Bill Simmons officiating. Burial was in the Union Christian Church cemetery. Survivors include three daughters, Marie N. Buckman, Lawrenceville, and Mary N. Archer and Delores N. Barber Sr. John Thurston "Pete" Barber Sr., 88, of Hull, died Wednesday, November 29, 2000. Born in Jackson County, Mr. Barber lived most of his life in Athens. He was a son of the late John and Folsom Frances Wallace Barber. Mr. Barber owned and operated Barber Heating & Air Conditioning for over 40 years and was a member of Christian Life Worship Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Helen Sims Barber. Funeral services were held Friday, December 1, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Revs. Swayne Carlan and Cecil Holcombe officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Ron Hardeman, David Smith, Dee Prince, Matthew Allen, Johnny Barber and Chuck Blakeman served as pallbearers. Stoyle Mrs. Bertha Mae McClure Stoyle, 96, of Danielsville, died Wednesday, November 29, 2000. Born in Franklin, N.C., Mrs. Stoyle was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Bessie Elizabeth Blaine McClure. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Stoyle was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Stoyle, a son, Bobby Lee Stoyle, and four daughters, Ira Maureen Stoyle, Viola Lee Stoyle, Birdie Mae Stoyle Vinson and Polly Jane Stoyle. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 2, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. Dayton Logan and Robby Brown officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She was employed with Georgia Child Support Enforcement and was of the Baptist denomination.
