A native of Madison County, Mrs. Carey was a daughter of the late Julian Obediah and Ada Williams Bennett. She was a seamstress for many years and was a member of the Ladies Farm Bureau. She was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school treasurer and secretary. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Evangelical Methodist Church with the Revs. Tim Peek and Ed Peek officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Buford Gwinnett Carey; four sons, Norman Carey, Greensboro, Everett Carey, Danielsville, Dwight Carey, Hull, and Ronnie Carey, Watkinsville; three sisters, Ethelyn Billingsley, College Park, Ellen Adams, Danielsville, and Idelle Short, Kannapolis, N.C.; a brother, Doyle Bennett, Santa Monica, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tim Carey, Bruce Carey, Nelson Carey, Nolan Carey, Curtis Carey and Scott Carey. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston.
