Harvey Lee Ward Jr., 70, died March 23, 2001. A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Harvey Lee Ward Sr. and Julia Mae Sorrow Ward. Mr. Ward had been involved with Little League Baseball, American Legion Baseball and Semi Pro Baseball. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and was retired from Independent Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Hull Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Monday, March 26, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Hull Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Interment will be in Hull Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Smart, Gene Marin, Nathan Hobbs, Randall Elrod, David Betts and Mike Youngblood. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Logan Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Jimmie L. Ward; two daughters and sons-in- law, Cheryl L. Flemming and Tina M. and Frankie Cleveland of Hull; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Suzanne Ward of Athens; sister, Lula W. Oettmeier of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted as well as memorials to Hull Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, is in charge of arrangements.
