Edwards Loy M. Edwards, 85, of Commerce, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. Mr. Edwards was born December 10, 1915, in Jackson County. He was a son of the late Jim and Molly Short Edwards. Mr. Edwards was retired from Roper Pump Company and was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, with the Rev. Johnny Ray officiating. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Tharra Varner Edwards, Commerce; one brother, Stoy Edwards, Commerce; and one sister, Maryleen Evans, Commerce. Ward Mrs. Lois Beatrice Chambers Ward, 86, of Gainesville, died Friday, July 6, 2001. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Ward was a daughter of the late Melvin and Lillie Patton Chambers. She was the wife of the late Jack Ward. Mrs. Ward was retired from North Georgia College and State University, where she worked in the Bookstore. She was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Commerce, with the Rev. Robert Green officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bill Gerspacher, Gainesville; granddaughter, Kristan De La Rosa, Alpharetta; grandson, Mark Gerspacher, Bremen; great-grandchildren, Claudia De La Rosa and Thomás De La Rosa, both of Alpharetta, and Allison Gerspacher, Bremen; and sister, Robbie Sue Conner, Tampa, Fla. Stockton Ralph Douglas Stockton, 56, of Commerce, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, following a short illness. Mr. Stockton was born February 4, 1945, in Jackson County, a son of the late Wiley Stockton and Zelma Voyles Stockton. He was a retired engineer for the Georgia Department of Transportation. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with Pastor Larry Henderson officiating. Burial was in the Dry Pond Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Kevin Stockton, Commerce, and Jeff Stockton, Watkinsville; two daughters, Tina Turpin, Watkinsville, and Stacy Stockton, Arcade; one brother, James Stockton, Jefferson; two sisters, Ruth Hudson, Maysville, and Kathy Stockton, Ila; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Trusz was born in Connecticut. She was a registered nurse and was of the Catholic faith. Stephenson Benny Leon Stephenson, 65, of Commerce, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Stephenson was born December 11, 1935, a son of the late Willie Odell and Johnnie Sue Wood Stephenson. He was retired from Reliance Electric and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Stephenson was preceded in death by a son, Bobby "Bird" Stephenson, and a sister, Joan Stephenson. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Curtis Greene and Donald Wilson officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Frances Cowart Stephenson, Commerce; two sons, Josh Stephenson, Danielsville, and Mickey Stephenson, Commerce; four brothers, Bobby Stephenson, David Stephenson, Jimmy Stephenson and Tommy Stephenson, all of Commerce; three sisters, Linda Adams, Nicholson, Shirley Bell, Jefferson, and Kay Franklin, Horton, Ala.; six grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. O'Kelley Mrs. Henri Quinn McElroy O'Kelley, 81, of Maysville, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce. A native of Banks County, Mrs. O'Kelley was born January 15, 1920, a daughter of the late Lester Brantley and Paulina Safrona Vaughn McElroy. She was a retired purchasing agent for BJC Medical Center and was a member of Maysville United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Maysville United Methodist Church with the Revs. Grady Jordan and Dugar Strickland officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville. Mrs. O'Kelley is survived by her husband, James A. O'Kelley, Maysville; one son, Guy Hudson, Wrightville, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
