Sartain Hugh Samuel Sartain, 83, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at Austell Health Care Center. Mr. Sartain was born in Madison County on April 8, 1918, a son of the late Henry Layfatte and Ora Hill Sartain. He was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, December 7, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Buddy Coile and Layman Chip Cohran officiating. Burial was in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery. Survivors include one brother, Henry “Spook” Sartain, Decatur; and four sisters, Adeline Cohran and Ima Jo Phillips, both of Danielsville, Thelma Segraves, Kannapolis, N.C., and Lena Snipes, Jonesboro. Phillips Danny Edwin Phillips, 48, of Danielsville, died Sunday, December 9, 2001. Mr. Phillips was a son of Wiley “Jr.” and Elizabeth Gilreath Phillips, Ila. A lifelong resident of Madison County, he was formerly employed with Carrier Transicold and American Monorail. Mr. Phillips served in the U.S. Army. Neely Mrs. Donna Jean Neely, 68, of Commerce, died Wednesday, December 5, 2001. A native of Lawrence County, Ind., Mrs. Neely was the daughter of the late Clarence and Marie Byers Reynolds. She was employed with Wal-Mart, working in the jewelry department, and had worked for Pacific Bell in California and Southern Bell in Louisiana. She also worked many years for Max Factor Cosmetics in Hollywood, Calif. Mrs. Neely belonged to the Professional Business Association of Huntsville, Mo. She was a professional seamstress and loved sewing evening gowns, said family members. Her hobbies included knitting afghan quilts and baking candies and pies. A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 8, at Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Mrs. Neely is survived by her husband, Floyd E. Neely, Commerce; two sons, Rick W. Neely, Nicholson, and Steve Neely, Livermore, Calif.; one daughter, Debra Brandis, Danielsville; one brother, Jim Reynolds, Indianapolis, Ind.; seven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Mr. Wilson was the son of the late Sam and Flora Mitchell Wilson. He was the husband of the late Drucilla Haggard Wilson, wife of many years. Mr. Wilson was a retired forklift operator with Overhead Door Corporation and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He served as a deacon for 51 years, and was one of the founders of Poca Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Wilson was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, at Providence Baptist Church with the Revs. Albert Vaughn and Dayton Logan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The men of Providence Baptist served as honorary pallbearers. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and “Junior” Shields and Phyllis and Clayton Bryant, all of Poca; sisters, Amile Weatington, Greenwood, S.C., and Grace Pearson, McCormick, S.C.; brothers, Jack Wilson, Decatur, and Frank Wilson, Valdosta; grandchildren, Tim Shields and Billy Singleton; and two great- grandchildren, Kayla Reno and Brittany Shields. Huff Charles Donald Huff, 63, of Madison, died Saturday, December 8, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Huff was born in Oglethorpe County on March 9, 1938. He was a son of the late Gertrude H. White and Jack L. White and the grandson of the late Samuel L. and Evie A. Huff. Mr. Huff was a 1956 graduate of Oglethorpe County High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was employed with Georgia Power Company for 37 years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Huff was a member of Center Methodist Church, Stephens. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 10, at Center Methodist Church with the Revs. Dwight Webster and Clayton Sanders officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was a retired supervisor of sanitation with the City of Athens and was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by two children, Teresa Davis and Clarence Casper. Middlebrook Jr. William Eugene Middlebrook Jr., 35, of Atlanta, died Saturday, December 8, 2001. Born in Fulton County, Mr. Middlebrook was a son of William Eugene Middlebrook Sr. and Phillis Greely Thompson. He was employed as a truck driver with SouthEastern Pets of Atlanta. Adair Mrs. Nancy Leoites Fowler Adair, 87, of Clearwater, Fla., died Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Adair was born in the Harrison District of Madison County on November 6, 1914, the youngest daughter of the late Henry R. and Emily “Mollie” Rice Roberts. She moved to Palm Harbor, Fla., in 1939, from Royston and to Clearwater in 1999. In 1980, Mrs. Adair retired after 30 years of service with the LaPrimador Cigar Factory in Clearwater. She was twice married, first to the late J.D. Fowler, and second to the late George Dewey Adair. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Adair was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Holloway, two step-sons, Harold Adair and Ronald Adair, a brother, Henry A. “Dick” Roberts, and three sisters, Ina Mae Osley, Annie Lee Carey and Royster Emily “Rossie” Pulliam. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 7, in the chapel of Holloway Funeral Home, Oldsmar, Fla., with the Rev. Christine King officiating. She was a homemaker and was a member of Mount Herman Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Brooks Sr., and a son, Dolph R. Brooks. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Wendell Hanley officiating. Burial was in the Colbert Cemetery. Mrs. Brooks’ grandsons served as pallbearers. Survivors include two daughters, Grace Widner, Donalsonville, and Geraldine McElreath, Danielsville; four sons, Richard M.
