Haggard Tom Watson Haggard, 91, of Danielsville, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at his residence. A native of Madison County, Mr. Haggard was a son of the late Samuel Gray and Mattie Jane Lord Haggard. He was a retired farmer and a member of Rogers Baptist Church. Mr. Haggard was the husband of the late Geneva Williams Haggard, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Hardman. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 12, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Carlton Peters and Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Union Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tommy C. and Beth P. Haggard, Athens; son-in-law, David Hardman, Ila; grandson and fiancée, Jeff T. Barrett and Tanya Leach, Ila; grandson, James W. Barrett, Ila; granddaughters, Caitlin and Mackenzie Haggard, both of Athens; and brother, Mell Haggard, Hull. Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------------------ The Madison County Journal, March 14, 2001 Louise Domingue Mrs. Louise Domingue, 79, of Ila, formerly of Buford, died Thursday, March 8, 2001. Mrs. Domingue was retired from Morrisons Cafeteria and was a member of Emanuel United Pentecostal Church. She was the wife of the late Paul Domingue Sr., and was preceded in death by four sons, Paul Domingue Jr., Larry Gene Domingue, Joseph Thurmond Domingue and Charles Ray Domingue. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 11, in the chapel of Tapp Funeral Home, Buford, with the Revs. Jerry Wheeler and Randy Domingue officiating. Burial was in the Sugar Hill Baptist Church cemetery. Survivors include four daughters, Martha Domingue and Theresa Moore, both of Buford, Margie Morales, Ila, and Elisha Rae Hart, Danielsville; two sons, Billy L. Domingue Sr., Russellville, Ala., and Raymond Wayne Domingue Sr., Commerce; one sister, Clara Mae Hill, Suwanee; 35 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren. Lord Mrs. Pauline Hix Lord, 87, of Commerce, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at the University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Lord was born February 1, 1914, a daughter of the late Joseph Carlton and Sara Martin Hix. She was retired from Commerce Sportswear and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mrs. Lord was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Lord. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Brad Wilson officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Mrs. Lord is survived by one son, Mike Lord, Commerce; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Johnny Willis officiating. Burial was in Old Pentecost Cemetery, Barrow County. Mr. Crane is survived by his wife, Jewel B. Massey Mrs. Evelyn Lucile Massey, 88, of Athens, formerly of Nicholson, died Thursday, March 8, 2001. A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Massey was the daughter of the late Guy and Frellie McDonald and the widow of Leonard W. Massey. She was preceded in death by a son, Mac Haynie. Mrs. Massey was retired as a supervisor from a clothing manufacturing company and was a member of Commerce First United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Commerce First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hoyt Allen officiating. Burial was in Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville. Survivors include grandchildren, Margaret and Mike Sikes and Mitch and Jenna Haynie, and four great-grandchildren. Carey Mrs. Annie Lou Bennett Carey, 88, of Hull, died Monday, March 12, 2001. Mrs. Carey was born March 10, 1913, in Madison County, a daughter of the late Julian Obediah and Ada Williams Bennett. She was a seamstress for many years and was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School treasurer and secretary. Mrs. Carey was also a member of the Ladies Farm Bureau. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Evangelical Methodist Church with the Revs. Tim Peek and Ed Peek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Tim Carey, Bruce Carey, Nelson Carey, Nolan Carey, Curtis Carey and Scott Carey will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Carey is survived by her husband, Buford Gwinnett Carey, Hull; four sons, Norman Carey, Greensboro, Everett Carey, Danielsville, Dwight Carey, Hull, and Ronnie Carey, Watkinsville; one brother, Doyle Bennett, Santa Monica, Calif.; three sisters, Ethelyn Billingsley, College Park, Ellen Adams, Danielsville, and Idelle Short, Kannapolis, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The family is at the home. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Fleming was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Safonia Massey Clark. She was the wife of the late George V. Fleming. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Barrow Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Carlton Peters officiating. Survivors include two sons, Joe Fleming, Mooresville, N.C., and Douglas Fleming, Concord, N.C.; two sisters, Sybil Allen, Ila, and Cleo Scarboro, Union Point; one brother, Corzay Clark, Ila; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. A native of Hart County, Mr. Rutherford was a son of the late Henry Rutherford and Hettie Chastain. He was a veteran of World War II and was a retired produce marketer. Mr. Rutherford was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church, Union Point. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Bethesda Baptist Church with the Rev. Lem Clark officiating. Survivors include two daughters, Nedra Legg, Comer, and Sharon Robertson, Pelzer, S.C.; one son, Wayne Rutherford, Union Point; two sisters, Myrtice May R. Lawson, Union Point, and Angile R. Taylor, Mount Juliet, Tenn.; one brother, Tom Rutherford, Union Point; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Barnett Jimmy Chester Barnett, 62, of Nicholson, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Barnett was born November 2, 1938, a son of the late Chester A. "CA" and Onia Kesler Barnett. He was a retired businessman and was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the Antioch United Methodist Church cemetery. Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife, Wilma Barnett, Nicholson; one daughter, Wanda Barnett David, Nicholson; one brother, Tommy Barnett, Nicholson; one sister, Emma Baerne, Nicholson; and one grandson, Jim David, Nicholson.
