Williams John Lewis Williams, 77, of Comer, died Friday, October 19, 2001. A native of Ogelthorpe County, Mr. Williams was a son of the late Albert and Annie Maude Veal Williams. He was retired from Seaboard Farms and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 22, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Burial was in the Collier Baptist Church cemetery. Bobby Wells, Michael Wells, Randall Wells, Doyle Green and Jeff Smith served as pallbearers. Gabriel Mrs. Margaret Ann Gabriel, 55, of Athens, died Friday, October 19, 2001. A native of Scranton, Pa., Mrs. Gabriel was the daughter of the late James M. and Helen T. Williams. She was the nurse manager of the endoscopy department at Athens Regional Medical Center and was a member of Compass Community Church. Services were held Sunday, October 21, with the Rev. Jim Carpenter officiating. Mrs. Gabriel is survived by her husband, Larry Gabriel; sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Crystal Gabriel, Danielsville, Travis and Rachel Gabriel, Pendergrass, and Todd and Valerie Gabriel, Watkinsville; sisters, Virginia Cheezum, Montclaire, Va., Joyce Burger, Bogart, and Nancy Lewis, Athens; brothers, Howard Williams, Lexington, Roger Williams, Crawford, and Bill Williams, Arlington, Va.; and six grandchildren, Jeremy and Matthew Gabriel, Danielsville, Whitney and Vanessa Gabriel, Pendergrass, and Taylor and Shelby Gabriel, Watkinsville. -------------------------------------------- The Madison County Journal, October 24, 2001 Billy Nicholson Billy Nicholson, 66, of Soperton, formerly of Commerce, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Nicholson was born July 27, 1935, in Jackson County, a son of the late William R. and Bessie Mae Odum Nicholson. He was a retired businessman and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 26, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. John Wood and John Brantley officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce. Mr. Nicholson is survived by his wife, Sallie Toler Nicholson, Soperton; one son, Billy Nicholson, Winder; two daughters, Susan McCarthy, Commerce, and Sheryl Wallace, Sugar Hill; two brothers, Rogers Nicholson, Commerce, and Thomas Nicholson, Hull; two sisters, Martha Fitzpatrick, Commerce, and Joyce Wood, Nicholson; and six grandchildren. Kelley Robert Frank Kelley, 67, of Atlanta, died Monday, October 15, 2001. A native of Madison, Mr. Kelley was a son of the late George and Willie Mae Carithers Kelley. He was retired and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, at Jones Lexington Funeral Chapel with Pastor Robert Glass officiating. Burial was in Holly Creek Cemetery. Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Kelley, Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Frankie B. Johnson, Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons, Robert J. Littlefield, 80, of Commerce, died Monday, October 22, 2001, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce. A native of Waldo County, Maine, Mr. Littlefield was a son of the late Manson G. and Rose Larrabee Littlefield. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and was a World War II veteran and a retired machinist and mechanic. Mr. Littlefield was a past Mason and a member of the American Legion. He made a lot of furniture, as he loved working with wood, said family members. He also always had a garden to work in. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Littlefield is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion Littlefield, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Oneal and Debbie Littlefield, Edinburg, Texas; daughter, Irene Marion Littlefield, Margate, Fla.; brother and wife, Ernest and Jane Littlefield, Lincolnville, Maine; sisters, Mary Littlefield and Winifred Stanley, both of Canden, Maine; two granddaughters, Deanna Littlefield and Debra Schmidt, both of Massachusetts; and two great-granddaughters. Curry Mrs. Donna Kay Curry, 51, of Athens, died Monday, October 15, 2001. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Curry was a daughter of the late Mattie Sue Curry and Alphary Thompson. Seigler Mrs. Lettie Jordan Seigler, 98, of Royston, died Sunday, October 21, 2001, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston. Mrs. Seigler was born in Madison County on October 18, 1903, a daughter of the late Jesse M. and Arie Berryman Rice. She had worked as a bookkeeper with Weatherly Furniture Company for many years and was the oldest member of Royston Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Society. Mrs. Seigler was also a member of the Ty Cobb Health Care System Pink Ladies Auxiliary for 36 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie L. Jordan, and her second husband, Jones Seigler, a grandson, Larry Jordan, a step-daughter, Charlotte Gunnells, two brothers, Frank Rice and Buel Rice, and two sisters, Irene Rice and Ruth Bryant. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, at Royston Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Barton and the Rev. Blaine Phelps officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Hand Claude Thomas "Tommy" Hand, 50, of East Point, died Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Hand was born April 14, 1951, in Jackson County, a son of Laura Boswell Livingston, East Point, and the late Walter J. Hand. He was the step-son of Terry W. Livingston, East Point. Mr. Hand was of the Baptist denomination. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery.
