Mrs. Beck was the daughter of Cleve and Sindy Helton Callaway and was the widow of Fred Beck. She was a retired seamstress and was the last Charter member of Grove Chapel Congregational Holiness Church. Mrs. Beck was also a member of the Madison County Senior Citizen Club. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 22, at Grove Chapel Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Sam Dorsey, Bobby Callaway and Raymond Duncan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Ronnie Williams, Ricky Busbin, Brandon Busbin, David Seagraves, Arnold Callaway Jr. and Jerry Helton served as pallbearers. Fogg Sr. Albert Russell Fogg Sr., 89, of Comer, died Friday, December 21, 2001. Born in Butts County, Mr. Fogg was a son of the late Ralph W. and Lottie Mae Morgan Fogg. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a mechanic with Southern Railway in Atlanta. Mr. Fogg was a member of Meadow Baptist Church and was a Mason for 50 years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, at Meadow Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Dooley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Fogg is survived by his wife, Lalette Clodfelter Fogg; son, Albert Russell Fogg Jr., Comer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herbert and Agnes Stephens, East Point; brothers, Donald Fogg, Bluefield, W.Va., and Ray Fogg, Lebanon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Scarborough Sam Joe Scarborough, 74, of Danielsville, died Sunday, December 16, 2001. A native of Madison County, Mr. Scarborough was a son of the late Samuel Grady Scarborough and Martha Patterson Scarborough. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Seabees for 26 years. Mr. Scarborough was a veteran of World War II, Vietnam and the Korean Conflict, and spent 15 years as a Navy civilian in the Naval Shipyard in Charleston, S.C. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 2872, Athens, and a lifelong member of Bluestone Baptist Church. Mr. Scarborough was preceded in death by two sisters, Raye Riggs and Dorothy Mae Scarboro, and four brothers, John Scarborough, Candler Scarborough, Luther Scarbor-ough and Kendall Scarborough. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, at Bluestone Baptist Church with the Revs. George Lovely, Ray Jenkins and Lamar Scarborough officiating. Floyd Mrs. Julia Kay Marrett Floyd, 43, of Bowersville, died Saturday, December 15, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Floyd was born June 7, 1958, in Clarke County, a daughter of the late Eugene Marrett and Johnnie Sue Ayers Marrett. She was a graduate of Madison County High School. Mrs. Floyd was a homemaker and attended Grove Level Baptist Church, Maysville. Mrs. Floyd’s club memberships included the Habitat for Humanity and the Optimist Club, and she was co-founder of Restoration Ministries Inc. Shackleford Mrs. Mamie Inelle “Nell” Cape Shackleford, 67, of Royston, died Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at Brown Convalescent Center, Royston. Born May 1, 1934, in Franklin County, Mrs. Shackleford was a daughter of the late Tom and Bennie Hamilton Cape. She was a homemaker and a member of Middle River Baptist Church. Born November 17, 1979, Mr. Weaver was a son of William James Weaver Jr. and Sherry Godfrey Gailey. He was employed with Greenlawn Maintenance Company and was of the Church of God faith. Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer Weaver, and his paternal grandmother, Wilma Barnes Weaver. Robbins Mrs. Rachael Hutcherson Vaughn Robbins, 84, of Hartwell, died Monday, December 17, 2001. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Robbins was a daughter of the late Albert Joshua Hutcherson and Mildred Estell Wilder Hutcherson. She was a former member of the Hartwell Pilot Club and Pine Tree Garden Club. Mrs. Robbins was also a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church, where she served as a former Sunday School teacher. She was preceded in death by two husbands, George T. Vaughn and Harvey J. Robbins. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, at Hartwell First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Becky Miles, Hazlehurst; two grandchildren, Benjamin Estelle Vaughn and Catherine Estell Vaughn; and nieces and nephews. Beach Dr. John Wendell Beach, 89, of Commerce, died Saturday, December 22, 2001, at his home following an extended illness. Born in Devil’s Lake, N.D., on November 19, 1912, Dr. Beach was the son of the late James C. and Ida Mae Price Beach. Dr. Beach was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He married Edna Blanche McElroy, of Winder, in 1947. He and Blanche moved to Commerce in 1959, where he began his chiropractic practice until 1987. Dr. Beach was preceded in death by two sisters, Decotah Ruth Beach Brown and Virginia Beach Sherer, California, and two brothers, Russel Beach, Michigan, and Kyle Beach, North Dakota. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 23, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Jeff Appling officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edna Blanche McElroy Beach; one daughter and son-in-law, Michael Edward and Ginny Beach Anderson, Commerce; three grandchildren, Tiffany Marie Anderson, Amberly Michele Anderson and Dakota James Anderson, all of Commerce; and a number of relatives from Georgia, California and Minnesota.
