Tolbert Jr. Carl Jackson Tolbert Jr., 50, of Comer, died Saturday, October 27, 2001. A lifelong resident of Madison County, Mr. Tolbert was a son of Margaret Tolbert LeCroy, Comer, and the late Carl Jackson Tolbert Sr. He had been employed with Madison County as an EMT for the last 27 years and as a Code Enforcement Officer for the last three years. Mr. Tolbert was a member and deacon of Carlton Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 29, at Carlton Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Ivey officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Presbyterian Church cemetery. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Laura Blackmon Tolbert; one son, Joshua Tyrel Tolbert, Comer; one daughter, Anna Elizabeth Tolbert, Comer; two brothers, Gregory Bryan Tolbert and Randy Allen Tolbert, both of Carlton; and other extended family. House Mrs. Maude Coile House, 96, of Danielsville, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at her home. Mrs. House was born August 1, 1905, in Madison County, a daughter of the late Gordon and Alice Hill Coile. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bethel M. Baptist Church. Mrs. House was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis James House, and a son, James Junior House. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 27, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Ray Jenkins and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the Bethel M. Baptist Church cemetery. Watson Mrs. Nellie "Nell" Booth Watson, 83, of Danielsville, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001. Mrs. Watson was born in Madison County on April 5, 1918. She was a daughter of the late William and Carrie Carter Booth. Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church. Her husband was the late Guy Arlin Watson. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Booth, and two sisters, Inez Lord and Ann Rich. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Kittle was a daughter of the late Leonard and Daisy Hammonds Brown and the widow of Emory Kittle. She was a homemaker and was of the Holiness denomination. She was a daughter of the late W.I. and Martha Susan Wotring Rowland. Mrs. Beavers was a homemaker and was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce, with the Rev. Warren Huddleston officiating. Mrs. Beavers is survived by a son, Robert I. Beavers, Athens; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchild. Shelnut Mrs. Methie Callaway Carter Shelnut, 80, of Comer, died Sunday, October 28, 2001. A native of Union County, Mrs. Shelnut was a daughter of the late Jim C. and Ella Helton Callaway. She was a longtime resident of Oglethorpe County and was a member of Grove Chapel Congregational Holiness Church. Mrs. Shelnut was preceded in death by her first husband, C.T. Carter Jr. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, at Grove Chapel Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Raymond Duncan, Mark Palmer and Burton Campbell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Claude Shelnut; three daughters, Vera C. Johnson, Winterville, Brenda C. Norman, Lexington, and Kathy C. A native of Jackson County, Mr. Bradberry was a son of the late William E. and Katie Inez Wilkes Bradberry. He was retired from the Athens Police Department and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Bradberry was a member of Prospect Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clyde Marie Bellamy Bradberry. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 26, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, with the Revs. Clint Jones and Bobby Griffin officiating. Batson Mrs. Susie Mae Sherrer Batson, 82, of Eatonton and Cumming, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001, following a battle with cancer. Born August 31, 1919, in Wilkes County, Mrs. Batson was a daughter of Ellis Clifford Sherrer and Amelia Irene Rice, Union Point. She grew up in the Taliaferro-Wilkes County areas. Her adolescent years were spent in Union Point, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 1937 graduate of Union Point High School. In 1941, she married John Walter Batson, Greensboro. They made their home in Greene County until 1957. The family moved to Eatonton. She devoted her life to her family, it was stated. Her time was spent helping her husband in his enterprises and raising her children in a loving Christian home. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and, most of all, her family. Mrs. Batson was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Batson, an infant son, Zachery Mark, and siblings, Ann Godbee, Winnie Davis, Christine Sherrer, Clifford Sherrer, Rachel Wilson, Willis Sherrer, Willard Sherrer and R.D. Sherrer. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 27, at Lakeside Baptist Church, Greensboro, with the Rev. Stan Patterson officiating. Burial was in Eatonton Memorial Park. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Batson and Joanna, Atlanta, and John Batson and Terri, Colbert; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Frischkorn and Robert, Alpharetta, Suzette Lundy and Jack, Athens, Angela Harris and Stan, Ranger, Maxine Minton and Jay, Milledgeville, and Nadine Daniel and Joey, Eatonton; daughter, Myra Michelle Batson, Cumming; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
