Gordon Mrs. Helen Louise Dean Gordon, 77, of Danielsville, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Cobb Health Care Center, Comer. Mrs. Gordon was born May 19, 1924, in Madison County, a daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Christian Dean. She had worked for Thomas Textile in Athens, and later for Zeb's Bar-B-Que. Mrs. Gordon was of the Baptist denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frank Gordon, a sister, Ethel Akins, and two brothers, Horace Dean and William Dean. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, in Danielsville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Survivors include one son, Tony Gordon, Danielsville; one brother, Doyle Dean, Colbert; five sisters, June James, Danielsville, Frances Smith, Comer, Leola Kelly, Cornelia, May S. Tittle, Watkinsville, and Alberta Chesney, Simpsonville, S.C.; and two grandchildren. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Henry Marshall and Lillie Johnson. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 4, at Fairfield Baptist Church with the Rev. D.T. Jackson officiating. Burial was in the Colbert Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Eddie Johnson; three daughters, Janice J. She was the wife of the late Hiowt C. Taylor. Mrs. Taylor was a retiree of Chicopee Mills. Armstrong Richard Lee Armstrong, LFD, 64, of Holly Hill, Fla., died Thursday, May 17, 2001. Mr. Armstrong was a native of Bessemer City, N.C. He was a retired air traffic controller with Hartsfield International Airport and was a pilot of his own plane. Mr. Armstrong served in the U.S. Army and held a degree in mortuary science. He was a licensed funeral director in the State of California and worked at the medical examiner's office. Mr. Armstrong was also a Mason. Mr. Armstrong is survived by three sisters, Rebecca Mayo, Lexington, Anne Haynes, Comer, and Rachel Johnson, Danielsville. A native of Madison County, Mr. Hammond was a son of the late Buford H. and Jewel Sexton Hammond. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer and was a member of Moon's Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Hammond was also a retired service man for Seaboard Farms, Athens. Gordon Mrs. Mary Gladys Power Gordon, 85, of Danielsville, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center, Royston. Born in Franklin County, Mrs. Gordon was a daughter of the late Charlie S. Power and the late Martha Ann Ward Power. She was a homemaker and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church. Mrs. Gordon was preceded in death by her husband, O. Scott Gordon, a son, James Wesley Gordon, a daughter, Sara Belle Gordon Bond, and 12 brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 31, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Ray Jenkins, Dennis Kesler, John Swanger and Robbie Brown officiating. "Nook" Fleeman, 85, of Bowman, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center. Mr. Fleeman was born in Elbert County on December 3, 1915. He was a son of the late James W. and Sula Jane Booth Fleeman. Mr. Fleeman was a retired mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Oscar, Henry and O'Dell Fleeman, and six sisters, Ora Jordan, Caldonie Moon, Flora Moon, Linnie Dudley, Sennie Coker and Doatha Hilliard. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Rev. Malcolm Herndon officiating.
